The Chairman appreciated their call and reinstated his committment to make CROSIEC to be of a world class standard
"We are trying hard to hit the ground running by putting in place the machinery to conduct local government elections as soon as possible," he stated.
"The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, (as amended) provides for a system of democratically elected local government councils and our administration which believes in the rule of law and due process took this bold step of the reconstitution of the commission in the face of lean financial resources as a step towards the fulfillment of this constitutional provision."
The Coalition of all Political Parties in Cross River State and The Special Adviser to the Governor on Inter-Party Affair congratulated the Chairman, Dr. Mike Ushie, Secretary, Mr. Vincent Agbor, and other members of the commission, Barr. Joe Nandi-Esom, Mr. Mathew Ucheche, Barr. Eddie Idom-Morhpy, Dr. Yakmoedoho Nnamawonso Yakmoedoho, and Mr. Neji Abang on their appointment.
According to him, their selection was based on merit, experience, and proven integrity with the conviction that they would discharge the responsibilities required of the commission with efficiency and without blemish.
"We charge you to conduct transparent, credible, free and fair council polls even as we pledge to respect the verdict of the people," he stressed.
"The integrity of our electoral process and its reputation must be carefully nurtured so that it can earn the respect and confidence of our people, every vote must count."
Chairman of the commission, Dr Mike Ushie sued for the cooperation of the people to deliver on transparent and credible polls while pledging to justify the confidence reposed in members and also announce his intentions of digitalizing the Commission.
